Every couple of weeks, members of the Cross Country club leave the confines of the school grounds and run a longer distance in the nature reserve behind the school. It is not easy, with up hills and down hills and cow pats to negotiate, but the children love it. We run about 3 kilometres, which some children will do in several stints then have a walk. More and more they are finding they do not need to slow down as often, demonstrating how each child's stamina is improving. The beauty of these runs is that each child competes against his/her own times in order to improve, regardless of other peoples' times.
Thanks to all the parents who help lead and supervise the runs.
